Hi, Ashley 🙂
César Franck is one of the most interesting musicians of the 19th century; he left his mark in the history of music by developing the so-called cyclic form, a composition that includes several movements in each of which a theme recurs as a unifying device. I particularly like his wonderful Symphony in D minor, the amazing Sonata for violin and piano (which may have inspired the “Vinteuil Sonata” described in the novel In Search of Lost Time by Proust), the poignant Quintet for piano and strings, and the majestic Trois Chorales pour Orgue.

Hi Claudio, I’m listening to the Symphony in D minor as I write (conducted x Fabio Luisi – YouTube). I’m sure he must have influenced more modern composers like Holst, Elgar & others I cannot recall. Wonderful! Thank you!
