    1. Anton Heiller was an Austrian composer and conductor; as an organist he became very famous by holding many concerts at home and abroad. The Tanz-Toccata is perhaps the most famous of his compositions. It begins with a slithering melody played above a dissonant accompaniment; a walking bass set up in the pedal leads to the central section, an unusual dance that harks back to Stravinsky and Messiaen.
