  1. I thoroughly enjoyed the opening instrumental bars of this piece; I’m afraid the voice is too modern for me. However, I did enjoy Daniela’s example; more rounded voices (for some reason I’m reminded of Karl Jenkins’ The Armed Man.

    1. Philip Pickett is (was) a talented musician who loves arranging ancient music to modern tastes. Unfortunately, Pickett is unable to control his instincts, which landed him in prison.
Here the lead singer is Michael George, an excellent baritone who was a member of music ensembles such as Pro Cantione Antiqua, famous for performing medieval, renaissance and baroque music.
I am preparing a series of articles about L’homme armé (The Armed Man), a Burgundian chanson which was immensely successful in the 15th and 16th centuries, and still inspires artists such as Karl Jenkins today.
May you have a good afternoon, Ashley 🙂

      1. Your mention of the lead singer made my memory pop (yes, I saw it round the other way). Wham were BIG in my house; my daughters loved George Michael & I managed to get an album signed by GM (vinyl, it might have been worth something nowadays but it got badly scratched & goodness knows where it is now. I used to work with a cousin of GMs; but that’s from another life.
I could write more here as I listen again to Daniela’s piece but the sun has come out & I want to take some photos in the garden).
I’m already looking forward to the Armed Man series. Will you post them here?
        Enjoy your afternoon. 🌞
