O, Jesu dulcissime, creator generis humani,
quod per sacramentum tuum voluisti habitare in nobis,
conserva cor meum et corpus meum,
ut non confundar in aeternum.

    1. Good evening, Ashley. Tunder is an important composer of the early Baroque era. Born in North Germany, he served as organist at the Marienkirche, Lübeck’s main church; his successor, Dietrich Buxtehude, was highly admired by Johann Sebastian Bach. In 1703 Handel applied to succeed Buxtehude, but then gave up: the customs of the time required new organists to marry the daughter of their predecessors, and apparently Miss Buxtehude was not very attractive.
